Christine Vassallo-Oby, Ph.D.

Dr. Vassallo-Oby has ten years teaching and administrative experience in higher education. She is a full-time faculty lecturer in the Departments of Sociology and History at Salisbury University (SU), located on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Prior to SU, she served as Clinical Assistant Professor and Undergraduate Director in the Department of Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latino Studies (LACS) at the University at Albany, SUNY. In Fall 2022, Dr. Vassallo-Oby was appointed to serve as Co-Director of the Fulton School's Latin American Studies Minor in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDIS). She teaches the first Latina/o/e Studies course for the college. In addition to her work with IDIS, Dr. Vassallo-Oby regularly teaches SOCI 334, "Sociology of Mental Health," SOCI 201, "Social Problems," and AANT 100, "Introduction to Cultural Anthropology and Linguistics." Research interests include topics related to identity, globalization, and the history and cultural legacy of colonialism and neoliberalism in the Americas.
